Dr. Josephine Wong

OTD, OTR/L, Certified Hand Therapist, Director, Focus OT PC

Dr. Wong graduated with honors from SUNY at Buffalo and began her career as an OT in 1996. In 2000, she obtained a Post-professional Masters in OT and in 2001, obtained the Certification in Hand Therapy. Dr. Wong obtained her doctoral degree from Boston University in 2024. Josephine has a strong clinical background in upper extremity rehabilitation and has treated a variety of diagnoses and clinical syndromes. She worked as a clinical supervisor at Bellevue Hospital Center (Level l Trauma Center) for many years. Responsibilities included supervision and clinical training for staff therapists, program development, and consultation of therapeutic services for surgeons. Patient specific treatment planning and Hands on implementation of treatments are the focus of services rendered by Josephine. Patient satisfaction and patient improvement are measuring factors for ultimate service improvement. Patient participation is a must in the therapeutic process and feedback are always welcomed.

Cheryl Au (區芷穎)

Senior Occupational Therapist

Tsz Wing Cheryl Au (Cheryl) holds a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy accredited by the World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT) from Hong Kong, and a post-professional master’s degree in OT from New York University. She has gained clinical experience in Hong Kong, focusing on orthopedics, neurological impairments, and burns injuries at the Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital at Sandy Bay. Her experience spans diverse settings including geriatrics and pediatrics. In New York, Cheryl accumulated 3 years of experience in sub-acute/long-term rehabilitation at skilled nursing facilities. She is eager to advance her expertise in hand therapy and aims to achieve Certification in Hand Therapy in the near future.

Shuyi Pan (潘书仪)

Occupational Therapist

Shuyi Pan graduated from SUNY Downstate Health Science University in 2023. She finished her Fieldwork 2 rotation here at Focus Occupational Therapy in 2023 as an OT intern. She also has experience with pediatric therapy, particularly with school-aged children who have special needs and learning disabilities. At her free time, Shuyi enjoys movie watching and traveling. Shuyi is enthusiastic about continuing to expand her knowledge and skills in upper extremity rehabilitation and is looking forward to provides good care to patients at Focus.

Erin Leung (梁愷恩)

Occupational Therapist

Erin earned her Master of Science in Occupational Therap from the University at Buffalo and has treated individuals across the lifespan, from young adults to the geriatric population, in orthopedic, neurological, and developmental disability settings, as well as in subacute care. She has a strong interest in upper extremity rehabilitation particularly in cases involving trauma, fractures, neurological injuries, and overuse conditions. At FocusOT, she supports underserved populations, especially those with language barriers and limited community resources, to help them regain prior level of function. Driven to advance her expertise in hand therapy, she plans to pursue Certification in Hand Therapy to enhance her clinical practice.

Pak Hin Tang (鄧柏衍)

Occupational Therapist

Pak Hin Tang graduated from SUNY University at Buffalo’s Occupational Therapy program in 2022. He was an OT intern at Focus Occupational Therapy in 2021. He has great interest in orthopedic rehabilitation and the specialty of hand therapy. Pak also has experience with psychiatric rehabilitation serving the adolescent population with various behavioral and developmental impairments in Sheppard Pratt Psychiatric Hospital in Towson, Maryland. He is passionate about helping patients regain function of their hands, and works closely with them to develop personalized treatment plans that address their specific needs and goals. Pak looks forward to developing his skills and knowledge in hand therapy, and achieving Certification in Hand Therapy in the near future.

Edward Guzman

Occupational Therapist

Edward Guzman is an occupational therapist with a passion to specialize in hand therapy. A graduate from New York University, Edward gained experience in geriatric rehabilitation at Isabella Geriatric Center and initiated his experience in hand therapy at a well established hand therapy clinic in the Bronx. His goal is to continue to follow Focus Occupational Therapy’s mission of ensuring effective treatment and communication with a diverse patient population. As a native Spanish speaker, he is well-versed in bridging the communication barrier for Spanish speaking patients. He is dedicated to continuing his path in hand therapy and providing quality care in order for patients to regain maximal level of arm function.

William Jim (詹偉廉)

Certified Hand Therapist, Senior Therapist

William Jim graduated from SUNY University at Buffalo’s Occupational Therapy program in 2017. He has clinical experience treating a variety of physical and neurological impairments at the sub-acute/long term care facility Highpointe. As well as experience working in an outpatient hand therapy setting at both Pinnacle Orthopedics and Sister’s of Charity Hospital. William is eager to develop his knowledge and contribute his skills at Focus OT.

May Thu Thway (梅华)

Occupational Therapist

May earned a dual degree—a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy—from York College (CUNY). She has gained clinical experience in sub-acute and long-term rehabilitation at a skilled nursing facility, and initiated hand therapy at a well-established hand therapy clinic in Queens. May is passionate about supporting underserved populations, particularly individuals facing language barriers, and is dedicated to providing client-centered care to help clients to maximize upper extremity function, and improve their overall quality of life. May is dedicated to advancing her skills and knowledge in the field of hand therapy, with the goal of achieving Certification in Hand Therapy in the near future.
